Thats food agression. You need to put a stop to it NOW. What will happen if a child messes with him when he's eating? The dogs I have had with food aggersssion could not eat till I said they could even when the food is on the floor. (Making them sit, lay down, or if you feel he will not attack you put yourself between him and the food) With one I had to go as far as puting the food on his paws under his nose to cure him. They need to know that they are eating your food and you can and will take it back at anytime. If you let them get away with food aggression it WILL GROW into possesion of other things including people.
P.S. OVERFEEDING THE DOG WILL NOT STOP THIS ONLY MAKE IT WORSE!!!

I am guessing you have not yet gotten him neutered. The reason I say that is, puppies tend to start maturing sexually around 6 months old. They reach full sexual maturity at about 1 year. Anyway, male dogs tend to exhibit aggressive tendencies around this time because of the testosterone that is coursing through their bodies. Male dogs who have not yet been neutered will start acting out as you said, with snapping and such. Also, expect him to start "humping" the furniture, people's legs, etc. I would recommend you neuter him as soon as possible, as it is a known fact that neutering operations are more risky, more expensive, and potentially more painful after a dog has fully matured.

You have to be very careful taking anykind of food or yuck a dog has a mind to eat. The wolf in them comes out. I just got a bad bite from my loving pommie by taking a yucko bone from him he found outside. Cesar the Dog Whisperer has a good book and show also. Talk to your vet. It has to do also with not showing fear. I had to go toward him when he was agressive (he is adopted) he got to know I didn't fear him. I made my fist in a ball and put in his mouth and he couldn't bite. But he is small your situation wouldn't work the same. Anyway my point is BE CAREFUL with taking what they consider a wonderful food from them.

he's showing some food aggression....labs LOVE their food....you need to snap this in the bud now....a way to avoid this is to train at feeding times....make sure you don't just drop the dish at dinner...make ur dog sit for a few minutes and be good before feeding...also being able to place your fingers in the dish without snapping is big...try this...if he snaps, take the dish away for 10 minutes...then get him to sit again....do over and over...till he gets that you are boss with food too...then he won't snap, but rather look to you...is it ok if I have some of those sunflower seeds mom? heehee

Training will be a good start.. And quit treating him like a little person, and treat him like a dog.. You need to make sure he has rules and guidelines, and you don't allow him to dominate you.. Standing over you etc.. A dog that possess something doesn't see you as a leader, or he would know that all things belong to you.

You pup is still very young and will need more training. Maybe your dog thought you were taking him away from food. Was he eating the seeds? Maybe he is not getting enough food during the day.

he needs to know you are the boss. when our dog behaves like this, my husband will take her down to the ground (by the nape of the neck usually) & growl @ her. YOU are the alpha.
