I had this happen to one of ours, it started up last November. Now we know it was a sign of cardiomyopathy, which ended his life two weeks ago. I'm not sure if this is one of the solid symptoms and thought I'd post here.
He would twitch lightly with his entire left front leg, when relaxed. Not when he walked or slept, just when he was relaxing. It got more jerky and more frequent. The vet at his last checkup didn't think it was anything at the time. His heart was good, no murmurs, no oddness to the sound of it's working.
But in less than a year his heart walls thickened up and were pumping less and less blood. He was having a slight problem breathing for 2 days (we had two cats just get over an upper respiratory so I was keeping an eye on him, thinking he caught that from them) and on the third day he was fine in the morning but gasping when I came home from work. I got him immediately to the vet.
