I discovered a snail in my tank a couple weeks ago I had no other snails so he must have come on some live rock I bought. The tank is only 2 months old. This little guy has been doing fine... Last night I introduced 2 new astrea snails to my tank and they died in 8 hours. the 2 zebra hermits and the peppermint shrimp I bought last night are doing fine, what gives?

Things die for no reason sometimes. Try checking your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and PH levels

The new snail wont have done any damage, just leave it and it will find its own food and stuff. Make sure you are only doing 1-2 water changes a month. People will tell you to clean it out weekly but this stops the tank cycling properly and will cause more stress than necessary to your fish by having poor water conditions. Just use a gravel vaccum every few weeks and take as little water out as possible.

Water quality as suggested is a good place to start. One thing you should be aware of with Astreas is that if they lose their grip on the glass or rock and fall, they aren't able to right themselves as are other snails. If left in a position other than "foot down" they'll die. Also, if any of your hermits might be ready for a new (larger) shell, the Astreas may be very convenient if they are in anything but their "normal" position. You might want to see if you can get some "unoccupied" shells from your store so they have alternatives.
