I have a submersible powerhead in my 55 gallon tank. I use a tube attached to a sponge to use it as a McGuyvered mechanical sponge filter. This provides very notable filtration inside of my tank, and reduces filter replacements by 50% or more.

The problem I'm having is keeping it in a good place. If I keep it too low to the bottom of my tank, the powerhead sucks up sand, this for me is simply not going to take place. So right now its near the surface of the water, but its ugly and easily noticable. I'd like to hide it behind a live plant that grows about halfway up my aquarium. Though to hide it behind the plant, would again, suck up sand.

Directly my question is:
Can I turn a powerhead horizontally opposed to vertically without seizing the magnetic motor inside of it? Gravity isnt my strong point, and I believe its worth considering in this case...

My wife took it to the vet, and he said it was like a pimple. he popped it and pulled some stuff out of it and said use acne stuff on it. so about a week or two later, we were going to apply some stuff last night and noticed their was some stuff inside the small hole that the vet made from before. we ended up taking out some white substance, then it sealed up and started to get red, and created a bump. we applied some prioxide and let it be for the night. after checking it tonight, it seems it got a tad bigger and the bump is harder like it has more pressure inside it. please supply some advice. thx

I really really want a rat for christmas. i read alot of books about them and I am sure I'll be able to take care of it. It's not like I'll get tired of it or abuse it or something, all my pets are fine. I also have alot of experience in taking care of pets since I already have a 3 10-20 gallon fish tanks and I've raised a baby mynah and took care of my friend's hamster for a month. Is there any way I can convince my parents to give me a rat?? What are some additional info that i need to take care of a rat?

I've gone through 3 vets, none of who could help. Kittens not responding to any of the antibiotics. Vet says they may be chronic - has anyone been thru something similar and found something that worked? I can't accept that there's no cure for my little babies!

I have a 2 month old Toy Fox Terrier and I am currently crate training him. I'm trying to train him to go potty outside, but I work during the day and leave him in his crate. Should I train him to go potty on a pad or something similar while I'm not there? What I'm asking is would it be too confusing for the dog to try and train him to go to the front door to go outside when I'm home, but to go to a puppy pad when I'm not home?

but I don't know how to go about selling it, or how much to expect. Can someone please give me any advice? Also I have aquarium systems submersible filters, undergravel filters, penguin powerheads, ph test kits, unopened carbon, instant ocean, submersible heaters, etc. Would I be able to sell this stuff?

What has happened to the supplies in the pet department. We have been buying the "vitamints" for our dog for about 41/2 years and they have dissapeared. The stock people say they are coming but after 1 week I think they are covering up for some one.
We used to have a pretty nice selection of the "ol roy' poches but they seem to be pushed back in favor of "pedigree".
Will my dog have his viamins or not?Wally world seemes to be going downhill pretty fast if you ask me.a reply would be nice, thank you.

These two beauties were found together as strays. They are very sweet and gentle dogs who we are going to adopt out of our shelter. We are all trying to figure out what breed they are!
They have been named Bonnie and Clyde. Bonnie is just under 60 lbs and Clyde is just over 70 lbs. Too big to be APBTs? We don't think they are Presa or Mastiff either...
Any help is appreciated!!!

My dog started her heat cycle on the 13 of this month. I intend to try and breed her. I have heard its 7 days of bleeding and then standing heat and then going out. Ever since she has been in heat i have put her with my choice in stud everyday and today he is going nuts for her. If he gets within 10 feet of her she trys to eat him. He bleeding has slowed down to almost a stop.
Last heat cycle i tryed to breed her and she did the same thing though her whole cycle, The stud owner then held her to be bred and she didnt get preg. She loves other dogs so i dont know why she mean towards only stud dogs when she is in heat. last heat was the first time i tryed to breed her. Wouldnt she want to breed when she gets in full full heat? Or do you think cuz she wont accept a stud dog on her own she cannot get preg nor wants to? My vet said bring her and the stud in and he will make sure they breed naturally (although i dont see how) Any ideas?

My Dog is a Shih-Tzu and is currently a a lil bit less then a year old (11 Months). I had bought several different foods from stores like Walmart and Petco but she still won't eat it. Than one day she was I guess hungry so she begged.... I didn't want to give her my food because thats a bad habbit but I gave her Cheerios. She loves them and it seems like that is the only thing that she would eat besides dog snacks. Is this healthy for them or is there some other food you can suggest? (The Cheerios are plain... no sugar or honey.) Thank You.

Hi
I'm currently using regular wood shavings in my hamsters cage, but I've been reading about how the pine in the shavings can be bad for them. Are there any safe brands which are easy to get in the UK?
Thanks
