I was born and raised Roman Catholic, sorry to disappoint Critical Mass, but, in answer to your question, I have had several of my dogs neutered / spayed and regret the one occasion in which I did not. And, contrary to the uneducated and hostile anti-Catholics and anti-Pope people, the Pope's ruling on birth control has only to do with human beings. It would be so wonderful if people would develop some degree of intelligence before they put their godawfully stupid answers here on Yahoo Answers. God Bless you.

Oh yes Catholics can do anything they want because Jesus died for our sins... if you see spaying or neutering your pets a sin...

No way! No kitty condoms or dogie bags either. And all animals must do it missionary style and practice the rhythm method. Deviation from any of the above rules will send your pet straight to HELL! Unless you take them to confession and make a donation to the lord and all is forgiven!

what? come on. you'll save many unwanted pets from being put down b/c they don't have a home. if some one tells you that's a sin, they are nuts!

Yes they can.
Most of their ill-considered rules only apply to humans.
