Hi
I'm currently using regular wood shavings in my hamsters cage, but I've been reading about how the pine in the shavings can be bad for them. Are there any safe brands which are easy to get in the UK?
Thanks

I don't know about the UK but here thay sell bedding for them, it has cedar or something in it to absorb the smells. You can shred paper but the paper would have to be white and that might cost unless a newspaper would sell it cheap.

i have a white Syrian hamster.
I let him sleep on wood shavings.
In addition, i gave him small pieces of old newspaper, which
he likes to exercise his creativity upon and forms into his own very well-shaped nest ! haha, i say it's very well-built and then he lies right on the nest he has made. He preferred that over the pipe i gave him where he could snug inside in the cold weather now. =)

Try bedding pettets--they are absorbent and control odor too
