Indians respect all life and feel they are all equal according to the Creator. But it seems that in our society that pets/animals are throwaways and if we don't like their behavior or tired of them then they are thrown out or destroyed.

This isn't a question. I just wanted to let people know that on Thursday 21st December, my guinea pig Chubbs dies from a spider bite.
Everyone who knew Chubbs, Michael and I knew that he was our baby and that he was spoilt rotton. He will be sorely missed. Rest In Peace, Chubbs.

My over-weight (15 lbs) 8 yr old neutered male has a really tight body - I know he is fat but his skin is wrapped around his body really tight - there is no flab - not even on the belly area. He is very strong (you only need to try to restrain him in your arms to realize this). But he is so big around the chest and belly that sometimes I fear he'd go "bust" like a balloon - coz his skin doesn't seem to have any more "give." Is your over-weight kitty like this or flabby? Just wondering if my cat is normal.

A friend said it is fungal infection.
Is it dangerous? What can I do - besides bringing it to the vet?
What medications are there?

I checked google and there are so many names - I've no clue which fits. It's like scales on the skin.

Bentley(my dog) is a few months shy of one year old. he's a medium to large size dog, and very friendly. we got him from a homeless guy when he was already 3 or 4 months old, and we didnt get all his shots done till maybe a little while ago. the vet suggested we take him to the dog park, because it's important for him to interact with other dogs. we figured it'd be okay, since bentley gets along with humans so well, he never barks or bites, and he just likes to cuddle up. well when we brought him inside the park and let him off the leash, bentleys tail went in between his legs and he walked around like he was very sad or scared. everytime another dog came around to sniff him, he lied down like he was surrendering. the other dog owners just said he's scared and we should just let him socialize. he ran around a little and he was foaming at the mouth. is that natural? but anyway, at one point 6 or 7 dogs ran after bentley, and we just thought they were playing. Wow thanks for everyone thay answered my previous question of one or two lab puppies ! We are definately going to get a black male but the thing that worries me is that we both work from 8-5 so the reason why we wanted two was so it wouldnt get lonely... Has anyone had a Lab by itself ? Will they get over being lonely after a while or is it better to have a companion?

My sister broke up with her boyfriend a couple of months ago, and since their cat was under my sister's name he came with her when she moved back in.

We already have two cats, one of which considers himself the dominant male and got very annoyed when we brought another dominant male cat into the house. The cat that was already here (Smokey) likes to lay down in the bathrooms, especially in the sink, so the water drips on him. My sister's cat (Kitty) started to poop in the sink that Smokey liked the most every time we left the bathroom door open. We thought it was because the two cats were dominant and this was a way of Kitty showing dominance over Smokey, but after two months he's still doing it and the cats get along very well now.

We clean out the litterbox constantly, try to keep the door closed at all times, and even put large objects in the sink to maybe discourage him (like a bucket or small trash can) but he still finds ways around it. How can we break him of this habit?

I've tried the different brands of kitten food, wet and dry, he won't eat it he wants to eat what our adult cat eats, wet and dry food and water of course, is that going to cause problems for him? He eats fine, seems fine...If he 'has' to eat kitten food, any ideas on how to get him to? Does a kitten 'have to' eat kitten food? What about before they had kitten food (I think its only been in the last 20 years that kitten food has been around)

I've heard all the horrors of "small children" and then everyone in the household being infected with worms when there is a puppy (or whatever animal) in the house with worms, but has anyone ever actually had it happen to them?
We adopted a "labbe" puppy about 5 days ago, got to know him, and then took him to the vet today for his first puppy shot and to be checked for worms. Of course, he has roundworms, so I'm going through the (pretty typical, from what I've read on YA) panic of "what if my son gets them?!?!??! I know that he CAN get them and I know HOW he would get them, but if in some horrible twist of fate I didn't clean as well as I thought, WHEN can I expect to see the worms or symptoms?
I've read many questions on YA, and articles online, and can't find a single story about someone actually having the worms transfer to them, and I'd like to be able to put my mind at rest on the subject.

Our landlord is considering allowing us to have a small dog, but she wants to make it madatory that the dog be locked in an indoor kennel at all times when we are not home. I work evenings and my wife works days, so it might be at least four hours a day, five days a week, that the dog would be locked up, but realisticly might even be eight hours on some days of the week. I understand that many dogs love their kennels but is this humane having the dog locked up for so long so often?
