I have not yet had a problem with my two cats climbing my tree. Very rarely they walk over and knock an ornament of the tree and chase it around the house for a few minutes but thats it. You can buy some apple bitter from pet stores and animals hate it, they will not go near your tree after you spray it.

Instead of using garland or tinsel on your Christmas tree, use barbed or razor wire instead.
Or keep a squirt bottle around and if you can catch the cat climbing the tree give him a squirt with the bottle. But I don't think this is going to help that much. It is in their nature. Best bet is to make sure the tree is anchored down good so it doesn't topple over. Also I wouldn't be putting expensive ornaments up unless you don't care if they get broke.

The way to get the cat to stop doing it is have a spray bottle and every time u see her do it spray her and say no. I have 2 cats that did it and now i can have a tree in piece. Now we have a baby to teach to stay away from it LOL. Good luck

Not at all staring. Cats climb trees. Maye next year you can put up a small table top tree. that is what I have. I know people like trees, but if you don't have you kitty declawed ( I don't like having to do this but had to ) A small tree could be the answer.

Id be more worried if your cat DIDNT climb the tree. They are very adventurous creatures and its thier way of exploring. It gets annoying, but Ive learned to get a squirt bottle with water, Ive only used it once in two years, but when my cat sees the bottle, she flys across the house and up the stairs to her recliner in my room. It helps to teach them boundries without physical punishment. Good Luck and Merry Christmas!~

lol no, my cat does this all the time. only he's so fat that he actually knocks it down. what we have to do now is whenever one of our cats goes into the room we have the christmas tree in (or if it's the family room for you, like most people) and goes near the tree, we take out a spray bottle with water in it and spray it towards them. since they aren't the biggest fans of water, they don't go in there anymore

lol...
ur christmas tree must be an extraordinary one...that's why your cat climbed it...
no other cat would have done that coz the tree is ordinary.
u put a barrier for the cat so that it cannot cross over.
according to the jump height of your cat.
this may prevent from trying to climb...

lol, nope not strange at all. i have 2 big huge fat cats that have distroyed my tree already, lol they climb up a few branches and are so fat that the branch they are standing on breaks.1 side of my tree is limp from about half way down. lol. i dunno what to do about it either except i started buying a real tree so that it can be tossed out after christmas.i keep tree lights unplugged at night and when im not at home...oh and buy plastic or metal decor for the tree lol otherwise they'll get broken.
i gues if you dont want them in the tree, you can blast a sterio or something loud everytime you catch them in it to scare them off and make them think twice about it next time.but, the holidays just dont last long enough to train a cat to stay out of your tree and plus....cats love trees...lol it could take a b illion kitty generations to breed that instinct ou of them lol.

it's not strange at all. you can put tin foild around the base ot the tree, like the tree skirt. and maybe some fresh citrus peels. cats don't like that smell. this could be danderous if the cat decides to chew on the wires of the lights.
