My over-weight (15 lbs) 8 yr old neutered male has a really tight body - I know he is fat but his skin is wrapped around his body really tight - there is no flab - not even on the belly area. He is very strong (you only need to try to restrain him in your arms to realize this). But he is so big around the chest and belly that sometimes I fear he'd go "bust" like a balloon - coz his skin doesn't seem to have any more "give." Is your over-weight kitty like this or flabby? Just wondering if my cat is normal.

my cat is also fat
he's flabby, but i think that's because he's persian.. i've seen some fat compact cat, mostly shorthaired, but i think it varies a lot

I have 2 cats. 1 is around 2 years old and weighs 5 pounds but his tummy is flabby, it wobbles from side to side when he runs, but he is no where near fat. And my other is a year old and probably 3 pounds and he's the same way, skinny but flabby. I don't get his. My mom has owned cats all her life and says this happens when cats are neutered

i have 2 siamese very fat cats lol. they are huge and heavy.the male is very muscular, but you have to feel past all the loose skin to tell. so i guess they are flabby because they are fat,lol but with all that lose skin they look like they could easily handle about 10 more pounds a piece with no problem.lol
my female weighs 14 lbs and the male is a little over 16 lbs.
so i dunno if your cat is normal or not. my mother in law's cat is a big fatty too and he still has tons of lose skin hanging from his belly and such like mine do.
have you checked your kitty for worms? if you are really worried, i would maybe see a vet about it.

I have 5 cats.. all are fixed.. one is very thin and always has been - she looks very elegant and lovely
one is solidly built and has won prizes but people always think she is big..

the others are outside/farm cats of regular size and good health

If your kittie is fat it can give him a heart attack... I would switch him to a SENIOR or LITE food... and that will help him.. any cat over 6 yrs who is chubby can be on a REDUCED Calorie diet
