First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on having a cat who hs reached the grand age of 24!!! May he have many many more years.

The "black spots" I think are equivalent to a human's "age spots" or what some people call "liver spots" - just pigmentation of the skin. My 8 year old has those on his lips; tiny ones on his nose and freckeles in his ears.

I'd say age spots. My 12 year old cat has had them in his mouth for a couple years now. I hope he lives to be 24 :)

I would have to agree with the rest! They are most likly age spots. I hate to say this but just in case maybe you should ask a vet.

And um WOW! 24 yrs old I'm only 26 your cat is almost as old as me! My oldest cat is only 7. You must be one good cat person! Your cat is lucky to have you!

Is this supposed to be a joke....when we age we get little brown spots on our skin. since you mentioned age and spots I figure you want us to tell you they are age spots. by the way that is old for a cat. u must have done something right

If the spots are flat...particularly if the cat is a light-colored cat...and they look like freckles....that's essentially what they are. My flamepoint Siamese, the cat equivalent of a white-skinned redhead, has them. Don't worry, they're harmless. Congratulations on keeping him alive and well to such a late age, you must be doing everything right!

Most likely they are age spots. If the cat has lived outside most of its life they might be pre-cancerous or cancerous lesions. You definitely should have a vet look at them and maybe even consult a feline dermatologist.

He has lived so long that it would be a shame to have him suffer or die from a treatable condition.

Good luck with him!
