I believe it is also quite common for dogs to go through what people describe as REM sleep patterns. I'm sure many of you have have witnessed your dogs paddling lightly or barking during deep sleep. These dogs are "dreaming," probably chasing some rabbit or mailman down the block or leading their imagined "pack" on some conquest. It is really interesting to witness these dogs dream.es

Everyone who has responded is right. Yes, they do. And at times they are fun to watch. There have been a couple of times when the movement was too agressive than normal, that I quietly and easily woke the dog up. Since she is small, I want to avoid any overactive heart activity. But like I said, it was very aggressive. But most of the time, movement is normal, and with the noises they make and the movement---------get out the video camera. Sometimes it can be real funny with what they do.

I'm pretty sure that dogs dream. I have a pug named Sandy and she moves her eyes, paws, and sometimes kicks. The first time she did it when she was a pup, I thought something was wrong with her. But as she got older she continued to do it.

Yeah, of course they do! My dog dreams when he sleeps all the time. He will twitch and move his paws, and will also start barking in his sleep.
