I've gone through 3 vets, none of who could help. Kittens not responding to any of the antibiotics. Vet says they may be chronic - has anyone been thru something similar and found something that worked? I can't accept that there's no cure for my little babies!

Have them tested for bartonella, aka cat scratch fever. It mimics a URI but is not cured with the same drugs. Chronic URI symptoms and not responding to antibiotics are both key indicators in bartonella cases! I adopted a shelter cat that had to be treated for it, it's curable, but you have to make them do a blood test to see if that's what they have. Good luck!

I know what you are going thru. I had 3 cats. I out them in a kennel so I could move 900 miles out of state and I had no where to put them in a U-Haul. when I wet back 3 weeks later 2 of them had gotten a URI (from another cat there) and they said that there was no way to save them so they put them down WITH OUT my permission. They said that the meds wasn't doing any good. They said that there was no sign is my other cat but he could get it. So after I made the 900 mile journey with him I took him to a vet right away and they put him on a antibiotic and it cleared up. I have included a link about other ways to get rid of it. I hope everything works out and you don't have to put you little babies down!

. we had a ferrel cat and still have him he is 7 when we rescued him same thing we took him to the vet every week for a shot and antibiotics it took about 2 to 3 months to get him well but he made it.He does have a little wheeze from time to time. they could have a virus mamma cat has passed on to them. they can get herpes and distemper and so many viruses out there . dont give up. find an old farm vet they are good and will work with you. they have seen alot and know alot. my ferral cat was like 5 weeks old and it took some time and patience to get him well. he coughed and sneezed and coughed all the time.

It does sound like its a chronic problem.
It sounds like feline herpes. Sometimes, the symptoms can be controlled, sometimes they are chronic.

HI.. DID YOUR KITTIES EVER GET ANY SHOTS BEFORE YOU GOT THE KITTIES.. ?? WHAT KIND OF ANITBODIES DID THEY GIVE THEM.. ? WHY 3 VETS? KEEPING WITH ONE VET MIGHT GIVE HIM/HER THE CHANCE TO STAY ON TOP OF THE KITTIES.. IF YOU BOUGHT THESE KITTIES, ASK THEM IS ANY OF THE OTHER KITTIES ARE SICK.. OR IF YOU GOT FROM HUMANE, COULD BE KEENLE COUGH, VERY HARD TO GET RID OF... KEEPING THEM OUT OF ANY COLD OR DRAFTS.. OR ASK ABOUT USING A NEBULIZER ON THEM.. I HAVE DONE THIS.. WITH CONGESTION./ RESPIRATORY...
