Pets - 6 August 2006

The cat had gotten it...now it's in a bird cage. It's survived the night..alert and drinking water from a eye dropper. Thistle is there if it wants it.
Oh..it's not a real young bird but not quite able to fly. Looks like it needs some tail feathers. Probably why our cat found it. It's a female House Finch.
We have Lindsey Museum in the next town which has an animal rescue hospital there but their closed on Sundays. What do I feed the little gal until then?
(and yes..I did take her outside hoping maybe the trama was over for her and she could fly away...she just tried to run fluttering her wing, that's how I know she can't fly yet! Maybe fell outta a nest..dont know!

Anybody?

i have a sun conure and a gold capped conure, they are in love, but i dont know there sexes, and have never seen them doing it, but the gold capped has layed and is sitting on eggs.. will they hatch if fertile?.. i dont know if the 2 types of conures can breed.. I have a 1 year old male neutered cat and have just got a 9 week old male kitten. The older cat has always been both loving and agressive ( he likes to bite ankles ) Now he has a new playmate and he doesn't seem to know his own strength. I do not want to seperate them but how can I help them to get along? The older one plays with the kitten as if he is possibly prey, like teasing a mouse and lets go when he cries out. Yet he lets him share his food bowl????? Is there something I can buy from a vet to calm him down until the kiten gets a bit bigger???

My dog recently ran under a car and ended up with her two right legs being torn off. She was pretty quiet for a few days but seems OK now, except that she can't walk. do you think I should take her to a vet or can dogs recover from these injuries without help? Also, my smaller dog keeps biting at the wounds. Is this normal? She is an Irish water spaniel - i've heard that they are very resilient.

my Cat jumped out of my little brothers room last night and the window is on the second floor and its a jump too i didnt even know he did it and the window was open and i forgot the window doesnt have a screen well i was looking every where for it and my boyfriend said he heard a noise outside last night like something that jumped or fell well this morning i open the door and he was right their covered in leaves.....does anyone know why he would jump out of a high window????.... i feel bad because he stays in my room all day and night because he will fight with my moms dog and if i open the door he will run out to be out of the room but i dont want him to go outside and he always looks out the window...he can be playful at times but sometimes he will just be mean what could i do????

i REALLY need to train my dogs that are about 1 year and7-8 months. one of them has NEVER(BELIVE IT OR NOT) done her "business" outdoors, i've has her since she was a puppy. the other one i adopted about 3 months ago. my aparment stinks!! just 2 days ago i had my carpet "cleaned" it cost me $80, just for the living room!!! and it still stinks. i've heard of crate training, but i cant imagine them beeing in there 9+ hours! after being free arround the apartment. specially for the adopted one she's sooo energetic! but i cant afford to pay so much for carpet cleaning.
at times i get frustrated and the thought of giving them away kicks in .. but i just blame my self ..so i guess I need to be trianed too!

I have a heart condition called Tachycardia. Dogs can lower pressure wich would be good. I have never had a heart thing with a dog nearby. PLus sometimes I dont feel comfortable with certain people at school but with a dog around I feel better. Do you think I quilify as needing a therapy dog?

he has flaky skin and will not stop itching i found out if i use sulfodene on his back it helps the itching a little but comes right back.

My wife has a minature schnauzer. He is 7 or 8 years old. Around 3 years ago he was diagnosed with cushings. We can't afford the medication and vet bills so basically the only changes we've made are what food he gets. I've tried to convince her to give him to someone who can afford to take care of him or to have him euthanized, but she won't go for either. I am just wondering how much longer he may hang on?

He'll start panting like he's hot or something. But when I offer him water, he won't drink it. I have the air conditioner on high so it's not hot at all.
