I'm having an extremely difficult time finding a perfect color scheme to go in our kitchen. The cabinets are honey pine, the counter tops are cream, and the kitchen connects to our informal dining room with no break, so I need a color that compliments both. I'd love to find a website that would help me choose colors and give me examples, maybe even let me add pictures of my own areas to be painted.

We can't afford new cabinets and we want to lighten our kitchen cabinets. They are stained a dark brown color. We plan to prime and paint whether we do just the doors or all of the cabinets. We considered leaving the cabinets the brown color they are now and painting the doors off-white/cream. We will use black knobs, drawer pulls and hinges. How do you think this will look? Please tell me the reason behind your answer and don't just say that you think it will look good or bad.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Does anyone know where I can find plans to loft an existing XL-Twin bed? My campus has a policy that all furniture IN a room must -stay- in the room, so a loft bed has to be able to encorporate the existing XL-Twin bedframe provided by the housing department. I was looking for some ideas for lofting a my bed next year. I found a couple of plans, but nothing seems to be what I'm looking for...

I am drilling holes in my basement floor to attach a 2x4 base plate for framing. I have tried several drill bits, and all have dulled to an unsuable point after drilling only a few holes. Are certain bits better than others? Any additional tips? I am currently using a regular drill, and would rather continue that if possible.

I'm looking for white tiles that can be hand-painted for a custom look. I understand that this can't be done with the commonly available ones from Lowe's or Home Depot because they're already glazed.

Does anyone know where you can get unglazed ones - and what the best way to paint tiles is?

I have a circular(wonder what was put down) burn mark on my laminate counter top. It's in a very inconvenient place-about 3 inches from the stove-middle of the dang thing. I thought about a trivet, but that would look weird just sitting there all alone in the middle of the counter. Wish I could get granite-but alas-so is life. C'mon all you creative people. Any ideas?

I always end up buying crappy pillows, but I never know it until I have slept on them for a couple of nights and they start getting flat. I don't like for the pillow to be so thick that my head is in the air, but I want it to be soft and fluffy. Does anyone have a favorite pillow?

I have a white half round bedroom desk with a brass rail around the top, it has tapered legs. I have seen this style furniture long ago, but cannot think of the style. The legs also have brass caps on the end and porcelain drawer handles. I would like to find a web site for styles of furniture. I think it's 1940 ish.......

I am extending a wall to enclose a dining room to a den. I read on a home improvement website that tile flooring underneath the extension would have to be removed. Does anyone know if only the necessary portion of tile can be removed without having to redo the entire floor? If so, what is the best way to do it? Thanks.

So, we have hardwood floors throughout our house. My problem is, when we sleep at night and move around in our bed, the bed scoots across the floor. Do they make any kind of rubber material that goes on the bed frame's feet so that the bed won't scoot across the floor? It's driving me crazy!

Is it lame to have your soapdishes and towel bar a different color than the rest of you shower tile? The tile I want doesn't have the soap dishes, etc..., just corner peices and bullnose peices. Shouldn't everything match?

I have a room with furniture that is predominantly dark-brown coloured, and the walls are a very, very light purple-ish, some sort of bizarre off-white setup. The current drapes are pink, and I hate it, but don't know to go for next. Ideas?

I have finished tiling my Kitchen backsplash and I really like the color of the mortar against the tile. My local home improvment store does not have a grout that matches quite as well. I have plenty of the mortar left over and would like to just us it to fill in between the tiles. Is it neccesary to grout or will the mortar work just as well if I use a good sealer?
