Just bought ex-council flat, I just can't stand the tatty cheap horrible front door and so want to replace it. Guess what I can't find it anywhere.
All I want is flat surface (no ribs), oak colour, no glass, no filly pattern. Just Mail Slot and peep hole. Just like the entrance of Wine bar. Do you know anywhere I can find these modern stylish door? Cheers

Also keep your eyes peeled for any neighbours making changes to their house. What they scrap might be just the ticket for you. I had a friend who was looking for a replacement cistern for an old toilet and just when he was giving up a a neighbour happened to toss out theirs because they were putting in another style.

If e-bay doesn't have one that fits the measurements you need, place a discreet ad in the local newspaper. When was it built? Can the original contractor be traced?

You probally won't find one with the mail slot and peep hole already installed but you could put them in yourself if you have the tools or contract someone if you need someone to put the door up anyway. I would look in the phone book under home improvement or millwork and call around.

The old council doors are non-standard size. I had to adjust the door casing on mine.
