any hardware store carries whats called "dog screen" and it is resistant to animal claws and teeth. I use it on all my windows and doors.

I'm not sure about what to use on the window, but using a spray-bottle filled with water works well on the cat. One of my cats shredded the window screen quite frequently until we sprayed him every time he tried it.

www.metroscreenworks.com sells a replacement screen that is 7 times stronger than regular screen just for this reason, to keep pets from damageing screens. Good Luck finding a solution!

You likely have fibreglass(plastic) mesh screens. Maybe you could try Aluminum mesh screens. Or you could put in a panel (metal,plastic or possibly glass) high enough that the cat can't reach above it.

my sister had to use wire mesh were cat could scratch with the screen material on the otherside to stop insects getting thru.she put it on a wooden frame work that was hinged to allow her to open and close them for access to her windows.
