I am thinking an olive green.
The adjacent dining room/kitchen is hardwood with beige walls.

Your color and fabric selection will really depend on your decor and lifestyle.
some options I'm visualizing are:

1. the olive green that you mentioned will create a serene room, tone on tone tends to do that.

2. a print in red/cream/brown/......some sort of plaid.

3. (my favorite) metallics. Think brass, not Gold. This will add tons of class and reflection to the room. If you pick a soft texture, like a sheer, linen or chintz, the room will remain soft but exciting.

I have a similar color in one of my rooms. I don't have curtains in there, but I have a countertop that has shades of rust, deep lavender, taupe...it looks awesome. There is also one wall in that room that is painted like a brick red color. Think of apples and you'll know what I mean.

I would go with gold sheer fabric or ivory. Hang blinds at the windows and use scarfs.....would look fabulous.
Good Luck

I think a toffee or caramel brown would look very nice.

Pale gold (silk) but very expensive, or cream.
