No not really. If they have done an out standing job you may give them a little more and past their name onto others looking for someone to paint their house. Telling them you are going to pass their name onto someone else will make them very happy, also that they can used you for reference.

i've been painting for over 35 years and have never been tipped, once a home owner gave me a bottle of really good whiskey (expensive and all that), but i expect to be paid the contracted amount and no more, tips are not needed, wanted, or expected.
so if they do a good job get them a 12 pack or something like that at the end of the job. (only after they finish, they may not be any good at all with a beer or two in them, i know my guys aren't)

My husband and I own a painting company and I can tell you that contractors figure in all they need to do the job and their hourly rate into their estimate, there is no need to tip although some have added some extra money if he went an extra mile or something for them which he does often but the best thing you can do for them is recommend them to as many people as possible thats a big help.

Unless you think you're underpaying them, you shouldn't.

If you want to do a good deed for them, be sure they always have something to drink and eat, and don't be rude - let them use your bathroom.

I once was a field service tech. I had a call out to a house where apparently they didn't like Hispanics. They didn't let me use the front door, and they told me to go to a gas station to use the bathroom. I quit that job that evening, and I didn't finish the job.
