Removing mounting putty?

My boss bought mounting putty to put pictures up on the wall in the office *groan* and its not coming off.

How can I get the blue goo off the walls?

I got the putty off using an old credit card, than balled up whats left and picked off the remaining peices with that. But there is still an oily residue...

Nothing short of a handscraper will do it.

scrape the excess and sandpaper , then touch up paint
