yes as long as your original floor is sound, solid , free from polish grease ect (for a good key ) use tile adhesive straight on top bed new on ,then grout level and straighten as you go use + spacers makes job easier good luck ( orange yuck) any doors opening in will have to be trimmed approx 20 ,30 mm

If the existing tiles (and I'm assuming we are talking vinyl tiles here) are in good condition and well adhered to the floor, then yes you could. The only considerations are the gaps under the doors. I would avoid tiles that need separate adhesive as it would take ages to dry because the existing tiles are not absorbent. Clean the old tiles with ammonia to remove any polish, and leave to dry thoroughly. Also stagger the joints (that is, don't lay the new tiles "tile for tile" over the old ones). If you have time of course, taking the old ones up would be the better option. Why not try ripping just one up first to see if it's a problem (you can always replace it with one of your new ones then tile over it).

Yes, it's perfectly possible, provided the existing tiles are firmly fixed & not cracked. Clean them up with detergent & use a floor tile adhesive with a high polymer content, such as PCI Tilefast 6 rapidflex, or PCI Nanolite Rapid, which will also work if the existing tiles are vinyl. Be sure to use a flexible grout, too.

I would say that you will have a much better job if you take the old tiles up first. The secret of any good job is to take time on the preparation. It will take longer, but the end result will be worth while.

no, as you said the floor is goona be way higher and it would be hard get get all the tiles level. I know it will take a while longer to rip up all the tile, but your finished product will be much better.

Yes, you could just plonk the new tiles on top of the old ones. You would have to change the height of the doors but it shouldn´t be a problem. A bit of a botched job, though, but certainly easier and less time consuming.

If you place new floring over the old tiles you might make it impossible to remove any built in appliances (dishwasher) to replace or service.
Do the right thing. rip up the old floor.

Absolutely!!! i hired professionals to tiled my dining and kitchen floor; they just laid it over the old vinyl floor and it looked terrific; if you are going to do it yourself, start in the middle.
