We're putting new sheetrock on our ceilings, we've been screwing the screws into the ceiling beams w no problem... but there seem to be no beams along the edges where the ceiling & walls meet.

Example: on one wall / ceiling corner the first beam is 13 inches away from the edge where ceiling meets wall.

What do we do, and how do we fasten the edges of the sheetrock so they won't droop???

I will repaint my master bedroom in a few months. It is a dark blue color and we are repainting it a light brown color. What is the best primer you have used? And how much did it cost per gallon?

I have an old (40 yr) house and want to remove the crummy old plastic shower doors and replace with clear glass doors. Can anyone suggest to me the best type of shower doors. Also, do I have to remove the entire metal surround into which the door fits as well as the doors? Or can I just replace the doors.

Thanks.

I have noticed when I tap on stained glass that has been soldered together that it "sounds" like plastic. I was wondering why. Is it coated? Is it because the pieces are so small and soldered together? Or, is most "stained glass" today actually plastic?

Would love to hear from someone that makes and/or sells Tiffany style lamps or Stained glass windows.

We are in the process of buying our first home in east central IL. The home was built in the 1800's and has plaster through and through. I want to replace the rooms that need it due to cracks in the walls and replace them with drywall. What might I be getting myself into when it comes to tearing them down, pricing wise and construction wise. The drywall here usually in a fair estimate is $10 a sheet.

I am moving into a new house in a few months and trying to get an idea of things I will need to buy. Does anyone know of a good book or website that has a great list? I have lived on my own for 10 years, so I am not really looking for beds, sheets, towels. I am looking for things like hoses, lawn mowers, things you wouldn't have living in an apartment.

If we put up trim around the windows to hide the rough-in, is it necessary to have window sills, or no? Any advice would be helpful.

ok i have a few problems that should be easily fixed but it seems like every time i touch something i make it worse. i'm trying to install these stupid towel bars in the bathroom and the anchors i pounded into the wallpaper just went right through the @!#$in wall. i attempted it again trying to cover the holes i've made and now i feel like i have to replace the wallpaper in the entire room. also there's this tiny little dotting of what looks like mold around the top of the shower. it whipes off but not completely. also ... there's a problem with the linolium tile. it looks like the previous owner used a harsh cleaner and then this pink stain started building up so there's a huge pink stain all around the toilet bowl. (looks like some kind of calcium buildup) i tried CLR the @!#$ doesn't work and i think i made it worse by spilling toilet bowl cleaner on it which made the stains pink and blue. now i feel like the floor needs to be re-tiled. i'm getting ready to burn the house down

I just bought my first house and I only plan on living here through college - I will sell or rent it after that but I would rather sell. I dont have an unlimited amount of money but I am very good at saving. Whats the best way to increase the value of my house for my buck. Its in central Illinois I am in progress of purchasing new windows as they are all painted shut. The carpet could use some replacing, the kitchen could use a complete makeover (floor, cabinets, plumbing) The basement is full and unfinished however its leaky all around the walls. The roof is new - the garage is about to fall over, and the land scaping is in between good and bad im working on that soon. HELP!

I have a mirror to go behind the bar, clock, etc. I am looking for ceramic tile that would have the University of Georgia emblem or some similar thing to use for the back splash at the bar.
