Hey everybody - does ANYONE know where I can get hold of those huge posters that are used in cinemas for promo films??

You know those posters that are like, 4/5 people long, and a whole dude tall?

Any help would be massively apprectiated, and rewarded with a chocolate biscuit and some milk!!!

Hi --
I would like to put some ceramic tile above a backsplash behind my stove. This would be the area above th formica backsplash, beneath the kitchen hood and underneath the adjoining cabinents.

My thought is to lay the tile directly on the wall - which is a combinations of plaster, and built up wallboard (very smooth and even), with the edges trimmed in bullnose tile.

I really don't want to add the 1/2 inch for backerboard or rip the plaster out to get the joists.

How well would it work laying the tile directly onto the old plaster and built-up wallboard?

Thanks.

The last time I painted was a few years ago, and we taped around the baseboards and stuff with regular masking tape and it worked just fine, we hardly had to touch up at all. Then we painted again this weekend, and the tape didn't work at all - we had to spend hours touching up. We used 3M painting tape.

Is there a better way to do it? Is there some entirely different method? Is there a type of tape that works better than others?

They've been in the basement for quite a while. They're all interior wall paints-flat/semi-gloss/gloss. None are oil based (if it matters).

Okay it sounds funny but we need to get a load of artifical fish for a community theatre production as a prop. The problem is we need a lot, and looking online they seem to be £10 per fish! since we cant use real fish coz they would stink out the theatre, can anyone suggest cheaper places we can get some?

The filing cabinets are old and rusty on the bottom but otherwise in good condition but we need to find a mat or something to go underneath and I didn't know if maybe there was something specific we could use or if we will have to be creative. Any ideas would be great!

My mother bought a black nylon shagged mat for her bedroom, and after three washings, the blasted thing is still leaving a trail of carpet tufts under her feet and on the hallway carpet. Does anyone have a solution to stop this mat from shedding?

my room has cherry-red walls with a light turquoise ceiling.. the theme is bollywood - purple and gold sheets, turquoise and fuschia accents, colorful diwan pillows..
but, its time for a change.. i want to keep my walls and ceiling the same color but i just want a new theme or a new color (preferably a light one) to tie in with these two colors so i can have a "new" room.

I want to increase the height of my fireplace opening so i can place a cooker in there. The problem is that the chimney reduces in width when it goes up to first floor and then joins another chimney from the living room when it goes into the attic

the problem is that where i want to raise the lintel to there are stepped bricks behind creating the narrowing of the chimney and i guess providing most of the structural support for the chimney.

anyone tackled this before?

I have a Persian rug hung on my wall. My girlfriend says that the rug is ugly and that hanging rugs on the wall -- ugly or not -- is tacky anyway. I think the rug is attractive, and that hanging rugs on the wall in general is a perfectly non-tacky method of decorating one's house.

What do you think?

My boyfriend and I just moved into a new apartment and I'm trying to decide where to place our bed. He is a Kun (#2, Earth) and I am a Dui (#7, Metal). Right now our bed is on the east wall because thats the only open wall without a window, door or closet on it, but east is the fourth worst direction for him to sleep pointed in and the absolute worst for me to sleep pointed in. The only good direction I can place the bed in for either of us is in the North East corner, which is his most favorable direction (meaning the fourth best direction for him to sleep pointing towards) and my second most favorable direction (the third best for me to sleep pointing towards). However, I also understand that it is bad to place the head of your bed in a corner. Which is worse, sleeping in a terrible direction for both of us against a flat wall, or sleeping in a slightly better direction for both of us but against a corner?
