The filing cabinets are old and rusty on the bottom but otherwise in good condition but we need to find a mat or something to go underneath and I didn't know if maybe there was something specific we could use or if we will have to be creative. Any ideas would be great!

Hi another way to go is to purchase some felt & place 2 layers per corner of the filing cabinet.

Or to purchase a cheap piece of plywood from a builders' depot & plce under the filing cabinet.

For about $15 you can purchase a mat that is typically used to put on carpeting so a chair can roll around under a desk. Do you know what I mean? They are very light weight, but very dense, and would be a perfect protector. I used one under my daughter's high-chair to protect the carpet when she was learning to feed herself. I swear by them! I guess you could even cut them to size, but it would take a very sharp utility knife. Good luck! Oh, by the way, they have a smooth side, and a gripper side. I would recommend putting the gripper side up, so as not to damage your tiles, but be careful, coz those grippers are sharp, which is all the more reason to trim to size. You can purchase them at office supply stores or Sam's or Costco.

first, clean off rust and paint with rustoleum paint. then get scrap rug pieces, cut to size for cabinetbottom; place under file cab, with the pile side down. willmake it easier to move cabinet out when need for cleaning, etc. did this in our laundry room and works great.
