I have an old (40 yr) house and want to remove the crummy old plastic shower doors and replace with clear glass doors. Can anyone suggest to me the best type of shower doors. Also, do I have to remove the entire metal surround into which the door fits as well as the doors? Or can I just replace the doors.

More than likely, you will probably need to replace everything. Otherwise, you will need to get the glass specially cut. You can use the links below for some ideas on which type, brand you like. The third link is prioided to help with installation.
And please, be careful in the shower if you use glass. Make sure you have some good, slip free surfaces in the shower.
