I will repaint my master bedroom in a few months. It is a dark blue color and we are repainting it a light brown color. What is the best primer you have used? And how much did it cost per gallon?

When a surface is at all glossy, dirty, or likely to bleed, the best primer is a primer-sealer like Kilz or Bullseye because they adhere extremely well and prevent discoloration of the top coat.. If there are no special conditions, I use the "all purpose primer" of any good brand. You only need specialty primers on difficult surfaces (like bare wood, plaster, chalking, etc.). With whatever primer you use, tint it somewhere close to the paint color for better hiding.
