And please don't tell me not to ruin the hardwood, they are TOTALLY fargone and I had estimates to have them redone and it is SO not worth it.

I intend to do a full reno in a few years, including knocking out walls and an addition, so I dont want to spend a ton of $$ on a temporary thing, but the floors as they are are driving me CRAZY.

They are in terrible shape, not to mention it is a two bedroom 492 sq feet and EVERY room has different color and style flooring. Doesn't allow for much flow.

I'm trying to decide if a designer could help me better "visualize" how I want it to look prior to going to the Architect or am I just doubling up on what an Architect does anyway?

I have a Wesley Allen complete bed in queen size that I've assembled but I haven't put a box spring or mattress on it yet because I don't know what to do with the washers that came with the rest of the parts. It's an iron bed with no wood anywhere in the design. Where should I use the washers? I'm looking for anyone who has assembled a Wesley Allen complete bed or who works for Wesley Allen or any store that has sold Wesley Allen and who might be able to provide some insight as to how to use these washers. Thanks.

We can't decide, I want the one larger one to wash large pans and soak larger dishes in, my husband thinks it won't drain as easily due to flatter service and will collect at the bottom. Help, I need your opinions.

I am restoring a home built between 1910-1915. There is a room at the back of the house (upstairs) that we cannot identify what it was used for. It is a smaller room but was obviously elaboratly decorated with wainscoating and ornate trim. Curiosity is killing us. The builders had no small children so we ruled out nurserys. Any insight would be appreciated.

My basement floor becomes damp as water soaks up from the ground below after it rains. I can't tear up the floor and put in concrete, but I'd like to lay down some sort of plastic grating so that I'm not walking on the dampness--any suggestions?

We have kids so we have ballpoint pen on the wall that just will not come off. We're going to paint now and since the ink will bleed through, we are going to use primer. My question is, can we just put primer over the offending marks or will the areas we used primer on look different than the non-primered areas when we paint? The reason I ask is because we have a lot of wall to paint and that's a ton of primer. If we can get away with buying less primer, we're going to do it.

Is a special paint needed and will it still be safe to use. This is not around the rubber seal and the rest of the microwave still works.

Nice house, just what we wanted, but the hallway is a nightmare. it is standard size but the entire side is closets that close with bi-fold doors. The closets are great, and we don't want to lose the space, but it is so 80's. SEVEN sets.
