Have you ever actually seen the furniture from IKEA? It looks more like dorm room furniture with a really short life span. Even the stuff from Wal-mart looks more structurally intact. Try Weekends Furniture, garage sales, junk/antique stores. Also, if you go to the flea markets at least you can haggle a better price. Also check out Ashley's Furniture.

I don't know where you live, but in the Joliet, IL area, Turk furniture has good sturdy furniture. My mother is a larger woman and they were able to upgrade the couch they liked with extra padding and a steel frame Also, you could check Walter E Smithe, but I've never used them. DO NOT USE VALUE CITY FURNITURE. I bought a set from them and from the day they delivered it, the fabric was literally coming off the frame. Good luck!

Around where I live we have 'Consignment Stores'. They have such good stuff. Some of it comes from people just trying to sell their furniture but some comes from model homes. Great bargins!
