Not if you are looking for a stable career. Walmart offers low wages and crappy benefits. Usually they start you off working late hours (1-10pm, 2-11pm). I used to work at Walmart years ago and the only major benefit I had was that our store did not have a security team so it was easy as hell to steal stuff.

Its not the most respectable place to work. Walmart has a stigma from taking business from local businesses. They are also known to skimp on pay and health benefits, by limiting hours. I don't kinow where you live, but sometimes there's no other place to shop or work, and someone without a choice must do what they have to survive. However, I live in the New York metro, I rather work do temporary office work, between school breaks, because it's easier and the pay is double. There isn't anybody breathing down your neck to do manual labor and that's hard work lifting boxes and listening to cranky people all the time. It also looks better on a resume that you have office work experience. It turns future employers off to see you worked for retail or fast food.

It has a terrible reputation as an employer, but if you need a job, hey it'll do for a time. I've heard the pay is low, but I have 2 sisters-in-law that make $15-17 an hour (one is a dept. manager, the other works in the stockroom doing I-don't-know-what).

before you accept that job you should know that last year wal-mart had more complaints filed with the dept. of labor for unfair labor practices than all of the other fortune 500 companies combined. that's a pretty good indicator of employee satisfaction.
