I am restoring a home built between 1910-1915. There is a room at the back of the house (upstairs) that we cannot identify what it was used for. It is a smaller room but was obviously elaboratly decorated with wainscoating and ornate trim. Curiosity is killing us. The builders had no small children so we ruled out nurserys. Any insight would be appreciated.

There were very few standardized blue prints back then. As in new homes it could have been a varied use build in. Some attics have formal storage areas which match the rest of the house. Could research the history through country records & newspapers. May get lucky & find the house plan in there.

I don't know exactly what those rooms could be used for but what you can do it look up in the history of your town and see what the people did back then and you can possibly find out what they was used for, I'm a architect major and we never been tought about anything like that..
