We can't decide, I want the one larger one to wash large pans and soak larger dishes in, my husband thinks it won't drain as easily due to flatter service and will collect at the bottom. Help, I need your opinions.

Two because then you can do various things at once. I use one to wash and the other to rinse. Sometimes I wash the lunch dishes in one while the meat for dinner thaws in the other. etc etc

Well after working as the assistant head of the plumbing dept (now the manager of another dept) - I can tell you that the double basin's far outsell the single basin's. Homeowners want them for various reasons - but the main one is so they can wash in one and rinse in the other. If you are looking into them at your local store they come in various shapes and sizes and some you can get quite wide and deep for both sinks or even just one side deeper and wider to accommodate your larger pots and pans if that is a concern of yours. Most drains are now placed at the back of the basins and this allows for more room under the sink as well. If you have a basin that is draining in the middle then your pipes under the sink will be coming up the middle as well there by cutting down on storage space.

Hi UK plumber here, customers prefer the 2 sink spec. as others state, if you have things soaking as you suggest you will still have a working sink for rinsing cups etc. But unless you use the two regular one may smell if not used, I would go with the 2 though they are more convenient.

Hi!
According to me, you should go for 2 basins as you can put them to good use.
You can use one for pans or other cooking utensils and other for glassware.
Or maybe 1 to wash and other to rinse when there is a helping hand..

I hope this helps!!

I cannot imagine working out of one large one. Our builder told us it is better to have 2 but it seems a lot of people are requesting one large for the same reason as you. I would go with the 2 for practical purposes as well as the drain part.

If it were my choice, I'd go for the two basins instead of one
