My basement floor becomes damp as water soaks up from the ground below after it rains. I can't tear up the floor and put in concrete, but I'd like to lay down some sort of plastic grating so that I'm not walking on the dampness--any suggestions?

If it isn't too wet and just light moisture try a dehumidifier. Ours is on all day and keeps our floor dry.

make surface rough and coat it with cement mixed with waterproofing compounds and allow it to be there for some time i recommend some impregnants will help u to solve this problem permanently
after this u can coat the surface with water based epoxy so that surface will almost get dried else use rubber mats so that ur feet dosent get wet
