layer the walls with six inches of pure lead that way you not only have no sound, you are protected in the unlikely event of a nuclear blast.

Insulation in the adjoining walls will do nicely. My builder used this for sound proofing....it won't make it totally sound proof, but will be better than none. Carpeting, upholstered furnishings, heavy curtains all help too.

if you want to do kinky stuff and know one hear, I can't help you. If you want sound not to travel from one room to another. Just use standard insulating batts, walls and ceilings.

My friend just redid her upstairs and had peg board put in as a sound proof barrier. She said it works awesome and is not terribly expensive.

It would save a whole lot of money if you just insulate it really well.
