Our dog knocked over a very large bowl of water in the living room. We tried soaking up the water with a towel etc. After 2 days I started noticing a mildew type smell. The carpet is not wet anymore. I have tried febreeze etc. Any ideas?

I have a nectarine tree in my backyard that bears fruit every summer. They're delicious once they're ripe but I wasn't able to try them this summer because all the squirrels, birds, and insects ate them. I tried to protect the fruit by wrapping them in little packages of newspaper but that didn't work. The animals still got away with it. I could purchase repellants, but I'm afraid of consuming the subtance that they contain. How can I enjoy those yummy nectarines in my backyard without the annoying animals in my way?

Hi,a couple of yrs ago we built our own conservatory. It took a lot of hard work and money, obviously.
3 weeks ago a kid put a golf ball through the roof, which is the plastic doubleglazed kind. The boy(11yrs) did say sorry but his mum, a divorcee, started crying and saying that she was depressed, had been abused by her ex for18yrs,suicidle,under the Dr,working two p/time jobs and that this was the last straw. My husband told her our address and said he would be in touch. The boy could have killed someone with the ball as it went across a walkway and it is not the first time we have found his golfballs in the garden. My dilemma is,do we charge her for the cost of repair or just leave it?The idea that we could be responsible for pushing someone over the edge is horrific. But on the other hand,we both work hard and as for depression and single mum, been there, done that but paid my way.Should it be us that pays? She hasnt contacted us at all. Any ideas would be gratefuly received. Are we too soft?

I have a blouse that is dry clean only, it's not silk - I'm actually not sure of the material. Anyhow, I hate the smell of the chemicals that the dry cleaners use and I have tried using the do-it-yourself at home dry cleaning kits such as dryell -but I don't think those get the garment very clean. Could I hand wash the shirt in cold water with some gentle soap - maybe baby detergent or Woolite, then hang to dry, or will that completely ruin the blouse?

I want to put 4 or 5 inch squares of pictures all along my walls, and I don't know if I should use frames or something else. I would think the frames might take away from the pictures.

My Trane is 13 yrs old. My serviceman stated the heat pump (outside unit) itself is in great condition but the inside furnace is going bad. We have also added on to our home and need a larger ton unit. Can I sell the heat pump (3 ton) to someone for parts or something and if so how much would it be worth? Is there a website where I can find this information? Thank you for your help in advance!

I need to find a way to seal styrofoam so that peices don't flake off and so that it can't melt when you put paint on it. I just want a smooth sealer that can be painted on without it melting. Anyone know any products that can do that? Help? Thanx.

I recently installed a new flapper on my toilet. When I flush it falls immediately so that very little new water enters the bowl. How can I fix it?

I planted my tomato plants the 3rd week of April. They have quite a lot of fruit on them and they tomatoes are quite big. When should they start to riped though? I water them about 3 times a week and the tomatoes get sun from about 8 or 9 am until about 6 or 7 pm. Also i live in Pennsylvania if that has something to do with it.
