In an emergency... say we had a few days warning of serious floods.

I'm thinking freshly laid concrete actually sticks to the floor (excluding grass), so when it toughens up and dries, the water doesn't pass beneath and through gaps that you get with sandbags.

Is concrete impervious to water though?

I'd like some big aerosol thingy which blasts out like a hot liquid plastic to build an instant waterproof wall around my property... and which biodegrades to nothing when blasted with a different agent.

I often see that headboards are sold separately. I'm furnishing my new place, and found a nice headboard. How do you attach a headboard to a bed when it's not attached initially and sold separately. Is it possible to just place the headboard behind the bed without it falling? BTW, this headboard will not be used with the bed it should be sold with.

Recently my partner myself and our 3 kids moved in with the paternal grandfather at his request to help him out.
He is a very nice man, and has all of his faculties, still works, drives etc., but their is a HUGE problem.
His lack of personal hygeine is AWFUL!
He insists on showering only once a week, rarely changes his clothes, he stinks, and it's really grossing us all out.
I have tried to talk to him about this, but he gets very insulted, and thinks that it is o.k.
We are extremely clean, and the smell permiates through my house, and no matter what I do it wont go away!
I walk behind him with clorox wipes, and lysol and wipe and spray what ever he touches.
I do my best to keep him out of the fridge by serving him.
He wants to eat in his room, and leaves a huge mess behind, but wants no one to clean it.
Today he literally smells like rotting cheese!
I am at the end of my rope!
What can I say to not hurt his feelings?
This is exhausting!

I have some plants out in a garden and need to water them often, when is the best time to water them? I have heard that you shouldn't do it on hot sunny days and you're only supposed to do it in the morning or in the afternoon when the sun is not out. Is that true or can I water them any time during the day?
My lawn is really dry too and is starting to turn yellow, are there any tips on how to water it or what kind of sprinkler to buy?

OK, i have a shower pipe in my bathroom that i cant find any type of adapter for. Instead of it being a regular pipe with grooves on it for a normal shower head, it has a sorta ball joint on the end. I have pictures but i dont know if i can post them on here. Can anyone help me figure out how to change it or find a new head that will attach on?

I have a 9 year old GE Profile Performance dishwasher that is now under recall. I have three options:
1) They will fix the problem (with insulation inside the door causing a fire hazard)
2) They will give me a $150 rebate on a new GE dishwasher
3) They will give me a $300 rebate on a new GE Profile dishwasher
The washer has already been repaired twice.
Can I assume I'm living on borrowed time with a 9 year old dishwasher and I should take the rebate or do you think there's plenty of life left in the old one?
The old one washes fine, but is missing the noise stopping insulation in the door (that was the first repair - they ripped it all out! The free repair would replace the insulation, but it would still be 9 years old.
Suggestions?

I recently bought a "sweet olive" tree inside the Walmart Nursery here in my home town. My mother-in-law has one planted in her front yard, and the smell is absolutely wonderful!!! It's the sweetest scent I've ever smelt. I knew if I ever found one, I'd buy it.

Well, this morning I picked up my shovel and here I go...dig, dig, dig. I dug the hole at least 2 to 3 X's larger than the root bowl, and planted it. Well, after my bath, I found the instructions on planting the darn thing. It says to plant the "top" of the root bowl, level with the ground. That's where I might have a problem, because I planted the top of the root bowl at least 3 to 4" below ground level.....did I screw up???? Will this kill my tree? Do I need to dig it up and start over, or will it be OK?

I installed some fiberglass insulation over some old celluose so I removed the vapor retarder that came with the fiberglass. Can I use it for anything (the vapor retarder) I notice some of the ductwork in the house was wrapped in insulation with the vapor barrier on the outside and some of it was deteriorating. Can I slap the new vapor barrier over the old stuff or is that a bad idea?

My problem is that the fitted sheet keeps coming undone in my top corner side of the mattress. There is a feather bed underneath of the fitted sheet also that may be part of the problem. I think I have the fitted sheet on the mattress properly, it is tucked all the way under the mattress but it always seems to work it self loose and come off of the mattress. Any ideas why this is happenning? Anyone know of any solutions to this problem?
