yes raspberries are heavily thorned..but also you have alot of black berries, dewberries etc that grow in what we call "brambles" along fence lines and on the ground..and they all look the same as theygrow..only way to actually know what they are is when the fruit grows to maturity..here are what they look like, and the growing zones they grow in.keep in mind there are also yellow and black raspberries as well.

Yes, raspberry plants do have thorns...the plant may be a raspberry but you should make sure before you eat the fruit. Look at pictures online to see if the leaves/fruit are comparable etc...

It's hard to say there are several kind of plants that are similar to raspberries. There are blackberries, dewberries, and of course raspberries. Some raspberry plants are thornless. Others are not. Depends upon the variety. I know you can't plant black raspberry plants beside red raspberry plants. Something about what one does to the soil that it causes it to kill the other. One of my neighbors used to raise raspberries and was telling me that a number of years ago.

Yes, they have a lot of little spikes. Your plant is probably a raspberry plant. They are not so uncommon and are pretty invasive. If not checked they will grow and extend into a small thorny jungle.
