I am looking for boulders?

I live in the chicago area and I am looking for large rocks and boulders for a landscaping project. Does anybody know any good resources.

You may have to go to the yellow pages or search online (Landscaping).

A caution about removing boulders and stones from construction sites: Homebuilders often want to use the boulders and stones as accents. There are also people who steal from construction sites (bricks, copper wire, construction materials, even appliances from houses being built!) and you may be mistaken for one of these thieves, so proceed very carefully if you do this.

You might try joining Freecycle (http://www.freecycle.org/) and posting that you want boulders and rocks. I have shared plants, plant pots, and concrete edging via Freecycle. I have also received plants and a preformed plastic pond liner via this free site.

With the advent of television landscaping shows, boulders are a high priced option for yards. Most landscaping businesses sell them.

I don't know about boulders but when I need more rocks for my garden borders a good place to look are construction sites where housing is going in.
Suburbia is a good place to find this kind of construction.

check landscaping companies, quarries, retail stone companies...they will be able to help. you also might want to check with construction companies, but that is a hit or miss situation.
