We are middle unit condo originally built in 1904. My newish toilet flange leaked due to toilet bolts being loose, need to replace rotted subfloor, new tile and new wax flange. Need to keep original lead sewage pipe. How do I prep he surface? Any tricks at getting remaining old wax off? Any special prep or ticks in laying new one in? What should I look for to determine if lead pipe needs to be replaced? Bottom unit ceiling is open for several days so want to do all possible upgrades but don't want to be wasteful. Appears joints in lead sewage pipe are not to code and are steel, not rubber. How bad is that?
Any and all help for all these questions greatly appreciated.

That's the only thing that's different in my kitchen.
But now my dishwasher has problems!
It goes throught all of it's cycles just fine but water isn't running into it!!
What did I do and how do I fix this??

Just tonight the I used the microwave, and half of the electronics in the house went dimm. anything requiring much electricity wont turn on at all, such as the tv and satellite box. after checking the breakers, none were thrown, but the water heater breaker was the one that controlled all the appliances that are dim. if I unplug the water heater, nothing on that circuit works at all, as soon as it is plugged in everything is on but dim. If anyone can give me any ideas for what to check to correct this I would appreciate it.

Okay, this is my first garden. So I am learning everything as I write this. Things are growing amazingly well at my new house!
I planted sweet pea seeds and laid them along the front yard fence. It is about five feet high. The sweet peas have grown to be beautiful, extremely fragrant and everyone loves them.
BUT they are about eight feet high!
I am wondering if I cut them back about two feet or so will they keep blooming or will the think they are done for the season?

I work at a nursery, but we do not have sweet peas there. I called the Nursery I bought the seeds from and I got two different answers.
One person said they'd be fine...the other said not to do it.

I will probably risk it and use it as a learning experience but if any of you have had sweet peas before and know the answer...I would appreciate it.

I also looked them up in many books..but could not find anything about cutting them back.

I have a glue like substance coming up between the cracks of my linoleum floor. (The house is about 55years old) Every week or so I have to use WD-40 to remove the glue. What causes the glue to come up? Thanks for you help.

Information gathered shows you leave it in a bowl like shape; is this still recommended? Thanks.

I have a light yellow sofa (not my choice!) and I've noticed within the 3 years that I have had it the colour is looking pretty grubby...!

The covers are like a corduroy material. I'd like to wash the covers as soon as possible!

Do you think it would be OK to put the seat covers and cushions in the washing machine? I was thinking of putting them in a light wool cycle with a soft detergent.

Can anyone help?

I am in the process of decorating my bedroom. The floor is walnut colored hardwood. My furniture is a dark espresso color and my comforter set is primarily brown with pale blue lines.

My question is: What color paint should I consider for the wall? Darker or a lighter brown/beige-ish color.

Also, what would be a more contemporary look 1) The walls and ceiling all the same color or 2) Different ceiling and wall colors? If I went with option 2, should i make the window sills the same color as the ceiling for added contrast?
