Hi - I am looking online for a sewing machine but don't know what I need....I found one that has a lot of features from http://www.overstock.com/
but at the end it says it is refurbished. Is it a bad idea to buy one like that? Should I just spend a little more money and get a new one? Thanks!

I need to replace a 40-gallon hot water heater in my home. What can you tell me about hot water heaters? What's new and efficient on today's market? What's out there and what should I be looking for? How do I determine if I need greater than 40-gallon capacity? Gas, electric, tankless?

The tiles are white and very large, and the lines inbetween them are really unsightly - they're very dark and show up, even though they're very thin. I think it's mostly because of the colour of the tiles. Is there a product that will be able to seal these tiny gaps?

We got some peas from someone, and I'm wondering how one can tell whether the outside pod can be eaten whole or if they need to be shelled. I've been eating them whole, and they taste good and sweet, but they are a bit stringy and sometimes I have to spit them out.

Plus I bought some "Sugar snap pea" seeds and have planted them in my garden. They are almost ready to pick, but wondering if those will need to be shelled also? I hope not though.

I have a ceramic tiled shower and floor that are the typical 70's olive green color. I removed the dated wallpaper, but have no idea what color to paint the room. It's a tiny room so I am afraid if I go with a dark color, it will feel like a cave. I had also thought about an eggplant purple, but then I don't know what to do with the trim. Help!

I have a flat top electric range - just bought it... then my husband cooked pasta - it boiled over. Big ol' nasty white stain on the black cook top - AGGGHHH!!
The stuff they sell to clean it did nothing to take it off. One of my friends suggested this powdered cleaner called Bar Keeper's Friend. If anyone has a flat top range - get it! It gets the marks & stains off easily & doesn't scratch anything.
It also takes rust stains & grease spots off of ceramic & glass cookware - you know - those nasty brown stains that make the pans look old & embarassing?
Anyway - I don't work for Bar Keeper's Friend or anything like that - just wanted to know if anyone else has ever used it cuz it rocks!

Is cheaper to use electricity when using a stove or dryer or will it be cheaper to use gas. I'm in the process of buying a home and I want to be as cost efficient as possible.

I would think that people could save water by just not turning it on so hard! The regular faucets will do the same thing and do not cost additional money. Just goes to prove what I often say, There is way too much money out there!

So I have a tree out back and because of it half of my yard is dirt. Laid the appropriate seed, fertilizer, and watered it every day. The grass just isn't going to happen. The problem is this patch of dirt and yellow grass is just off the patio and stretches in all the way across (small yard). you have to walk through it to get to the rest of the yard. No going around. So i need some ideas to make it look nice but still be okay for me and the dogs and the baby to walk through. Any idea would be appreciated.
