Gas is always more efficient. Gas water heaters recover faster, gas dryers dry faster, gas furnaces are more efficient and gas stoves are easier to cook on. Go with gas you'll love it.

Gas is cheaper! With one caviat...
A gas oven gives off many times the heat to the room since the combustion has to vent somewhere, whereas an electric oven needs no air flow - the heat just stays in the oven. I have gas stove and dryer - love 'em. But, I hate paying the air-conditioning bill to remove every bit of that heat generated by my gas oven.
I'm buying new appliances soon, and I'll buy a dual-fuel range - one with gas for the cooktop and electricity for the oven.
Another downside to gas ovens is that it's harder to find them with a self-cleaning cycle (which you WANT).
Your dryer vents to the outdoors whether gas or electric, so gas is definitely better.

Actually electric is more efficient but gas is usually cheaper, and propane is more expensive than both.Gas produces a faster response, but electric is odorless. Depends on your local utility costs.

In most areas Natural Gas is cheaper. Check with the local utilities to get their rates per kilowatt/hr for electricity and / 1000 cubic feet for Natural gas.
Now check to the ratings (average consumption per year) of the appliances you are intending to purchase and calculate the estimated costs to operate each one.

It used to be common knowledge that gas was not only more officiant but also cheaper. However with today's prices on gas and oil, it's pretty much a toss up in reality.

Gas appliances are more expensive to buy, but the usage is cheaper. So go with gas.
