I have a flat top electric range - just bought it... then my husband cooked pasta - it boiled over. Big ol' nasty white stain on the black cook top - AGGGHHH!!
The stuff they sell to clean it did nothing to take it off. One of my friends suggested this powdered cleaner called Bar Keeper's Friend. If anyone has a flat top range - get it! It gets the marks & stains off easily & doesn't scratch anything.
It also takes rust stains & grease spots off of ceramic & glass cookware - you know - those nasty brown stains that make the pans look old & embarassing?
Anyway - I don't work for Bar Keeper's Friend or anything like that - just wanted to know if anyone else has ever used it cuz it rocks!

The important thing with a ceramic/glass cooktop is that you don't scratch it. BKF is great but I'd keep it as a last resort. Try appying some Hob Brite (from John Lewis and most supermarkets) with a J-cloth rather than anything abrasive. If that doesn't shift all the marks, apply the Hob Brite to "warm" (not hot) heating areas and then wipe clean. Try several little go's rather than one massive attack. If all else fails try rubbing very gently with the BKF. The secret is to wipe up any spills before reusing the rings otherwise it really, really bakes on. A pain, but worth keeping your great stylish cookertop looking its best.

There were lots of scruffy kids when i was small, nobody had much money but we were all clean - scrubbed from top to toe by over zealous mothers who took a great deal of pride in and loved their children. Tracey Connelly's revolting mother should have been horsewhipped years ago or she should have had her children removed from her lousy brand of care. No decent example for her daughter to follow there? Just a slovenly drug riddled excuse for a human being - is there any wonder events turned out as they did?

My sister in law uses it to take the black off and keep her copper bottom pots shiny.

I have used it for years and love it. Most restaurants, bars and Country Clubs I have seen use it exclusively.
