Is cheaper to use electricity when using a stove or dryer or will it be cheaper to use gas. I'm in the process of buying a home and I want to be as cost efficient as possible.

Gas is definitely cheaper all around.

I would say gas all the way..i have gas and when the lights go out i can still cook and during the winter i can still keep the house warm and if you live in a area with alot of storms or hurricanes you really want gas cause when all the light are out you don't have to eat all can foods you can cook.

Compare your rates and usage.
Used to be that I would have picked "gas" to your question, but with current prices right now I'm prone to choose electricity. We recently had a huge increase in natural gas prices here which has changed everything having to do with costs.
Bear in mind that whichever way you go, your choice will be valid only until one of the utility companies decides it wants a bigger percentage of your paycheck.
