Well mowing a wet lawn is a recipe for disaster, first of all wet grass is slippery, you could lose your footing, second it's messy, the wet grass gets on everything, including your feet when you track in the house. Water makes things grow, so you get more wet grass.... No, mow the lawn dry, unless you have a choice.

It more depends on how often you mow your lawn and how much do you let it grow before mowing again? If you allow the grass to get longer than one inch of what you plan on cutting off, then make sure it is dry. Anything under a inch won't hurt.

In addition to the other answers, wet grass will clump together forming rows of soggy grass on the lawn. That, of itself, is bad enough, but the grass underneath those rows will often be damaged or die.

It is better if you don't. The reasons are that the grass is harder to cut so it can dull the blades quicker.
Also, it makes the grass stick to EVERYTHING and can cause clogs or problems with the mower.
Finally, I think it stains your shoes more when wet, but that one is my opinion!

The only reason it should matter is whether or not it sticks to the blades making it hard to mow

I would not worry if it was a "little" wet. But if it is more than a little wet, the first answer gives you the scoop.
