Been trying to figure this one out my whole life!

There is an alternate universe people entirely by the socks, underwear, handkerciefs and stockings humans lose in the wash. In this universe, these things come to life, and raise their own families, which are sent back to our universe ad reappear magically in department stores as items for sale. It's so simple when you know, isn't it, lol ;-)

Seriously, a washing machine repairer once told me that most missing small items actually get sucked out of the washing machine or dryer when the water is pumped out, and end up in the plumbing, where they quickly rot away to nothing.

Personally, I prefer the alternate universe theory :-)

Best wishes :-)

To help this issue take a idea from my dad. My dad was blind and since he had an issue matching socks since similar socks feel similar but there can be many colors. He would safety pin each pair together. Mind you we would ball our socks up in pairs as we were putting them in the laundry basket. Just make sure to use rust resistant metal like stainless steel.

I can almost guarantee that the missing sock will always be inside of a pant leg or a shirt sleeve, if not then look behind your washer or dryer and you will probably find it.

My socks are available in a constrained form of designs and colorations. If one dies or gets eaten via the bathing gadget, that in many circumstances leaves me with a pair of three. finally yet another will pass out of life leaving me with the appropriate selection back. as quickly as I get to a minimum of one, i purchase some extra understanding I actually have a spare.

Haha.
Nice question.
Usually, the missing sock, is still in the dryer stuck inside.
If you stick your head in you'l probably see it sticking to the side of the dryer.
If not, you probably dropped it, or it's stuck in some of your other clothes.

The weird thing about the problem is that only left socks disappear.

In my household...check with the dog. LOL I'm missing about 20 socks...I'm sure he's getting plenty of "fiber" in his diet.
