I am trying to fit a bathroom fan through a fused switch.
I have a 1 amp twin and earth wire coming from a junction box in the loft, going to the fused switch, and a 1.5 amp wire (was already in position, used for an old fan, without fused switch) from the switch to the fan. There is power at the load side of the switch, but no power coming from the switch on the supply side. what am I doing wrong ?

I live west of Phoenix, AZ. I am planning to plant four 15 gallon Shamel Ash trees in my backyard. I do not want them to die from the heat... but I want them to have a chance to get roots before the winter freeze. The average temperature right now anywhere from 100-110 degrees with random humidity. We are having a somewhat rainy season, so the temp and humidity vary by day. It can get as hot as 120 degrees in August. Is there a certain temperature range I should look for before planting my trees to prevent them dying from sunburn or heat???

The previous owners didn't put plastic or weed barrier fabric under, and now there's weeds everywhere. I am completely overwhelmed! It looks terrible. What do I do?

I have several young children, and it's very hard to find the time or energy to do it-I already have so much on my plate! None of the yardwork will get done unless I do it. I need a solution to get rid of large areas of weeds quickly and in a cost effective way, and to keep them away! I don't want to have to hire help if possible-it's such a big job, I can see someone charging inordinate amounts of money. Is there a quick, effective way for me to get rid of them myself? There are woodchips in the play area, too, which complicates it a little. The weeds are getting really embarrassing!

Moved into new home. One cabinet needed minor repair. Vendor took cabinet to his shop, sanded and stained however repair area is noticeably lighter than all other adjacent cabinets?
Vendor said it is cherry wood(real) and stained hazlenut color. The color will darken to match other cabinets within a couple of weeks from lighting in the house? It seems like I'm getting a fish story? Can anyone tell me the real skinny?
Thanks

My deck is 27 years old. Built well with pressure treated wood and never cleaned or had sealer put on. Now the foundation of the deck is still good, but some boards have rotted parts and nails popping out. A good contractor agreed to replace the decking, railings and stairs for $9000. That seems really steep to me despite this being a high cost labor area. My neighbor fixed his by turning over the boards and replacing some. He did this himself, but said the work was extremely difficult and does not recommend it.
My idea is to pound in the nails and then cover the whole deck with with thick astroturf. I hope that I can afford to sell the house in two to 10 years, when sales are better, so that big $9000 bill is not something I want to spend if there is a less expensive way. What do you think of my idea and can I do it myself? (I am pretty old and not too clever with a hammer, although willing to try)
Thanks.

I have two evergreen trees in my backyard. I live in the suburbs of St. Louis in Missouri. I do not know what their specific species is or whatever, but I am pretty sure their cones shouldn't be slimy and grow strange long strands. I first noticed the sliminess about 3 or more years ago, but have ignored it. It was at first only on the largest tree. But recently, when I was cutting the lawn, I noticed now that all the evergreen trees in my backyard have slimy cones with strange growths. The trees don't seem to be dying. I was wondering if I should be worrying about this, if this was a disease, and if so what it was, and if so if I should do something about it, and if so what should I do?

Preface: I did backwash. When I turn the intake valve one way I get water flowing in the pool providing circulation/skimmer, but the pool vac does not move. I turn the valve the other way and the pool vac works great, but the water does not circulate and no suction in skimmer. I can't find a happy medium. What gives? Please help! Thanks
