Veronica... I gave you a thumbs up... but I gotta sympathise with your husband's frustration with your untidy loading. :p Anyway.. good tactic..at least you got your boy's loading it proper now. :)

isaultexxx - I don't know how you can survive without a dishwasher.

I read they save a person like 200 to 300 hours a year in labour time (from not having to wash and dry up manually).. require little electricity, and my last one lasted 20 years. Just on the time saving aspect.. you have to be crazy not to get a dishwasher. Force him to get you one. :p

My husband always complained that I had no idea how to load
the dishwasher, that if I did it properly I could get a lot more in, that it wasn't a logical way...... etc., etc.,
So - one day I left all the dishes piled on the draining board, and the next day and the next.
When he complained and asked why I hadn't put them in the dishwasher, I explained that I didn't know how to load it!
I've not loaded it since - boys' job because they know how to do these things! I don't care if it's neat and orderly or not!!

I've just got a dishwasher after 31 years of marriage and the kids laugh at me because I find the best way to use it is to wash the dishes by hand and use the trays as a draining board. It's quicker and less frustrating than trying to fit everything in.

neatly - there is no other way!! if someone else puts anything in, I have to re-arrange it as the glasses go in a certain postion to mugs etc. Oh yes and the cutlery - it has to be all knives, forks etc together and the same way up!!
I did not think there was anything strange until I started to write this answer - maybe I am OCD? But it does make for getting a full load and it sure does make the unloading easier!! Sad person that I must be!!

Neat and orderly because you can fit more in that way, plus it makes it easier to put the clean things away as all the plates are together etc.

If my other half would just let me have a dishwasher, I would promise to look after it properly forever, and stack it in a neat and orderly way, and feed it properly, and clean it all by myself......

Neat & orderly! I laugh at myself sometimes as I see it as a quest in life to get as much in as possible!
Dishwashers are fab & I would not be without one. Only bother is - emptying it.......................
