I have two evergreen trees in my backyard. I live in the suburbs of St. Louis in Missouri. I do not know what their specific species is or whatever, but I am pretty sure their cones shouldn't be slimy and grow strange long strands. I first noticed the sliminess about 3 or more years ago, but have ignored it. It was at first only on the largest tree. But recently, when I was cutting the lawn, I noticed now that all the evergreen trees in my backyard have slimy cones with strange growths. The trees don't seem to be dying. I was wondering if I should be worrying about this, if this was a disease, and if so what it was, and if so if I should do something about it, and if so what should I do?

Not knowing what kind of tree it is makes it really hard to figure what could be wrong.

I just trying to picture it in my mind, and am wondering if it is just sap dripping off the cones. Could it just be sap?
If it is sap dripping then it could be burrowing insects, like bark beetles.
The red pine cone beetle seems to cause this drippy sap thing.

Or maybe its some kind of fungus?

although i think of this "question" grew to become into poorly presented, I believe the straight forward theory that liberalism is a psychological illness. And and one notice to the voiceofreason guy: pointing out that the argument between liberalism and conservatism is what makes one large is basically absurd to declare the least. It exhibits the lack of understanding of the speaker equipped into the fact itself, straight forward as day. He claims that this warfare between 2 opposing ideologies is effectual. which means certainty is interior the middle. rather that individuals to the left are merely as incorrect as those to the appropriate, and that certainty can in basic terms be discovered interior the middle. If that's real, then liberalism and conservatism ought to be eradicated even nonetheless, because of the fact the only certainty is center-of-the-highway moderates. and because whilst did conflict ever build something? If u . s . a . could awaken to the fact of conservative concepts (and that i did no longer say Republican concepts), we could circulate forward far extra and speedier than the cost of devolution we see immediately. we ought to tutor the well-known public on the risks of vulnerable-on-protection, vulnerable-on-morals, and vulnerable-on-small-government liberalism. in basic terms then do we attain this stability of which Mr. reason speaks. back I reiterate, the middle of certainty is Jeffersonian/Reaganite conservatism. And the liberals are that lots extra from the fact.
