I often see that headboards are sold separately. I'm furnishing my new place, and found a nice headboard. How do you attach a headboard to a bed when it's not attached initially and sold separately. Is it possible to just place the headboard behind the bed without it falling? BTW, this headboard will not be used with the bed it should be sold with.

Depends on the bedframe you have. Some have holes to mount the headboard. Many Decorators are now mounting the headboard on the wall instead of onto the bedframe. I have even seen "painted on" headboards. The headboard design is painted onto the wall.

As long as it is the right size headboard for your bed (twin, queen, king) and you have a steel frame with wheels.

There are 2 flat areas on the back where you can run bolts
thru the steel, and into the leg of of the head board.

Real simple.

The headboard will attach to the bed rails. So if you have a mattress on the floor you can't attach it to anything, but if you have the metal bed rail/frame there are holes that you can use to attach them together. Its pretty easy.
