It is not good to prune a Pineapple, if it is at all possible I never do. As for the dead leaves all you have to do is to pull them off. I have seen plants killed because of pruning. I guess the best place for your Pina is a place where it can spread out. But keep in mind that a healthy pineapple can spread up to 4ft across with it's pointed barbed leaves..

no leave it alone and let it grow till the fruit is the normal size of a pineapple and just starting to show a little yellow in the skin color then cut the fruit off at the bottom and leave your plant be.

Nope. I would not prune that plant yet. Like I have for instant a citrus fruit growing on my little citrus tree that I grow by seed. So I would wait until it's more mature. And there is times throughout the season where it would be more appropriate. Long time gardner.
