We in Utah call it sticky weeds. The reason why after the blossom's die and get burned throughout the head they devlop these stickers. Our dogs bring them into our home. And once they hit your feet they sting pretty darn bad.

hm. Do you know exactly what it is? If so, check to make sure your weed-n-feed targets this plant. I would also use a broadleaf (it has broadleaves?) weed killer on the lawn area between feedings. Sometimes it takes two doses in a short time to get the more resiliant weeds, and you don't want to overfeed the lawn. Make sure the weed killer targets this plant too!

Hand pulling (with gloves on) is tedious but the way you need to go in your gardens. Hoeing might just chop it up and let the pieces re-root so I would not do that. I would also check for what the seedlings look like. It'll be easier to pull from the garden when it's small. Using a mulch in the garden might help keep the weeds down; if they root into the mulch you can pull them out very easily.
