My Trane is 13 yrs old. My serviceman stated the heat pump (outside unit) itself is in great condition but the inside furnace is going bad. We have also added on to our home and need a larger ton unit. Can I sell the heat pump (3 ton) to someone for parts or something and if so how much would it be worth? Is there a website where I can find this information? Thank you for your help in advance!

When you contract for the new unit, ask the installer if they can sell the unit for you. I doubt you will get much, as units only last 20 years plus or minus 2 years. You may end up just scrapping the OD unit. It has 20-30 pounds of copper, and some steel.

Let the serviceman haul it off. No one is going to pay for something that can't be run to verify it cools and the valve reverses. They woulden't buy it if it was a year old much less 13.

the h/p condenser or the whole system?just the condenser contactor stuck the whole system bad t-stat or low voltage short
